Quality comes first -- Vendor evaluations In order to minimize potential production problems and enhance printing quality levels and the print buying experience, Graphic Focus has always sought out and qualified vendors (over 180 of them!) through a painstaking, rigorous process. We conduct onsite inspections, verbal interviews, and rate vendors on 26 points of service. Their files are kept in a database that allows us to bring up the most qualified vendors for any given job based on a number of job criteria, such as quality level, format, timing track record, etc. What's new is our errors and omissions tracking system. For the first thirty days of working with a new vendor, we recognize and note positive impressions, to be sure, but also track every element of the project -- even the tiniest thing -- that fails to meet our high expectations. But the point is not to prove our vendors wrong. After the initial evaluation process is complete, we sit down and share our findings with our vendors -- with the idea that our experience in managing over 5,000 jobs can help them do what they do better. We believe in investing in our vendors so that we can do a better job for you, the customer. |
