Forest Stewardship Council
FSC certification means you are buying products that support growth and responsible forest management worldwide.
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international, non-profit organization founded in 1993 to support environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable management of the world’s forests. FSC certified forests are responsibly managed according to set standards. The goal is to improve forest conservation and reduce deforestation. Through chain-of-custody review, the source of a wood product is verified and tracked through production into its final state. These products are labeled with a FSC logo, guaranteeing the consumer that the product they receive comes from a well-managed forest.
FSC is recognized as the most rigorous and credible forest certification system internationally. Printers have to be thoroughly audited by KPMG Forest Services in order to qualify for this certification. There is huge public concern about the destruction of the world’s forests, and consumers are demanding products that are environmentally responsible. Through FSC, some of our vendors can proudly provide this.
Use of FSC logo
It is important to note that in order to use the FSC logo on our work, we must submit the design and get their approval. We need to budget 5-7 working days for this process. They have strict requirements for this certification and keep a tight rein on how their mark is displayed.
Rainforest Alliance Certification
Another certification that is starting to emerge is the Rainforest Alliance Certification. It is a global effort for businesses committed to conserving resources and protecting ecosystems for the good of the planet and future generations.
